Essay Competition

Since 2011, ASF has been organizing an annual essay writing competition for all its young readers.

Students are invited to write an essay on topics related to reading such as: “My favourite book” or “Books are my best friend”.

The essays are an excellent source of feedback: They showcase which books the children have read through the year, what they like, what they have understood and learnt from the books they read.

Every year since 2011 the number of essays has grown in proportion to the number of readers. In 2020, 650 students from 16 ASF library classes participated in the essay competition. The essays written, covered a vast range of topics: ranging from the ever popular Chintu to an essay on Lenin, from Harry Potter and Geronimo Stilton to the classics “Shyamchi Aai” & Sherlock Holmes.

Prizes were awarded to the 5 best essays in each class. In addition to this, 3 best essays from all the 650 essays submitted were selected and the winners were awarded a cash prize as well as a trophy.
